Percephanie Pumpernickel Wojtowicz
Hello-- to all parti-poodle lovers. I used to have a female parti-poodle. Her name was Percy (full given name was: Percephanie Pumpernickel Wojtowicz. Ok we were strange, but really it was my husband because he was too silly the day he named her, trying to please me by a silly feminine name not realizing I would accept so fast because he was being too silly)
My dog died in 1997 after 15 years with us and was the best well-mannered, well-behaved dog I'd ever seen. She was very capable at a young age, to jump very high. She USED to have strong teeth, where we had a stuffed animal toy in her mouth and we would pick her up with it and she'd be in the air.
She had very high energy and was a very intelligent dog--quick to learn. She'd go around my husband's feet intertwining as he walked, and without teaching her, she'd done it and other tricks. She was intelligent enough to remember things in her past because whenever there was a plastic toy or rubber wheeled race car, she would either leave it alone by watching it and cry or hover over it like she was protecting it and cry. Needless to say, we never had any plastic toys for her, only stuffed animals. We had found her when she was less than a year old and couldn't find her owner, so we kept her. I think she remembered something in her past or had a bad experience with the plastic smell but I’m only guessing.
I think she adopted us first because she stayed by us and came so quickly by Percy and she growled to protect me when she was in the bed with me, and came rushing over to us even when we came back home from work the first day like we were the owners.
Now, with Kleenex, she'd rip it up by mouth, but then she would walk away when done. One day we'd put 20 Kleenex on the ground and one by one she'd go after it to tear up and she knew when she was done. Lastly, and most important and strangest, my husband would tease Percy and do a fake sneeze on purpose and his third sneeze she would go crazy and do fake sneezes. What is so amazing, those weren't real sneezes UNTIL she got herself too overly excited, and she would sneeze like crazy and we would have to calm her down.
I wished I had watched those amazing story shows a back then as I would have gotten it all on video. It was SO cute and I loved her more when she did it. I would love to own another parti-poodle. I always thought this dog was half poodle and snau-zer (misspelled) because of the thick legs and energy.
