Your new puppy will be delivered clean & groomed with a fresh new "puppy cut". Most kennels, (and all shelters that I am aware of) may give the puppy a bath if your lucky and hand the puppy over. Being groomed, especially for a Toy Poodle is much more than a 15 minute haircut. Your new Parti Poodle Express puppy will be neatly trimmed, his/her ears will be free of excessive hair, toe nails & teeth will have been thouroughly inspected and treated or cleaned as needed as will the puppy's skin & eyes.
As soon as we have received your deposit for your new puppy, we will ask you if you have a name picked out yet. Once you do, Your new puppy will be called his or her new name. The puppy will become used to hearing the name which will give him or her one more "comfortable" thing once he is delivered to you. (Just think, the first time you see your puppy and call his name, he'll recognize it and respond. He'll know he's in friendly territory!)
Your new Parti Poodle Express puppy has had his/her own crate for sleeping since weaning. This makes for a much easier transition to your new home. It is very traumatic for a puppy to go directly from sleeping with his siblings & mom to sleeping alone in a strange place. By giving each new puppy their own sleeping quarters as soon as they are old enough, our puppies not only will come to your home well adjusted to sleeping without his brothers & sisters, but he will also be partially if not fully Crate Trained. (This means a much healthier, happier puppy and new owner as you won't be cleaning up puppy poop every morning!) Crate training is also the first step in house training. It teaches the new puppy to "hold it" until he is taken outside.
Speaking of house-training... Since ALL of our puppies are raised in our home, (see "home raised" below) house training began as soon as your new puppy is weaned. We have four sets of eyes watching the puppies as they run, play & sleep under our feet. We are constantly on the look-out for the signs that one of the puppies needs "to go". Whether it is me, my husband, or my two children who spots the "signs", the puppy is immediately picked up and taken outside. Our puppies have a head-start on house training you won't get from any other puppy source.
Often, (way too often) the "home raised puppies" we have come accross means nothing more than the puppies are raised on the same property as where the breeder lives. We have seen time & time again breeders who claim to have :"home raised puppies" that simply have a shed out back with floor to ceiling kennels stuffed with dogs. These puppies rarely, if ever even see the inside of the house. Our puppies live, play, & sleep inside our home as well as going outside to run and play in the grass, the lake and with the kids. This makes it much easier on both you and your new puppy in it's new home. That sounds like a lot of work you may be thinking. You would be correct. It's not easy keeping 12, 16 or 20 dogs & puppies in the house and it is a constant, full time profession for our entire family. We like to think that our hard work makes our puppies healthier & happier while they are with us, and even more importantly, once they are with their new owners.
Your new puppy will have been wormed, and will have received all his or her shots that are due up to the time of delivery. All of our puppies receive a certificate of good health from our vet within 10 days of delivery date to insure you get a healthy new puppy.
When weather permits, your new puppy gets to explore, swim, and roam in our huge backyard (with close supervision of course). This type of activity nurishes your puppy's natural instincts and makes for a well adjusted, loving dog.
Even though AKC (American Kennel Club) DOES rocognize line bred puppies (a mother bred with her son, brothers & sisters bred together, etc...) In our experience, we have found that certain genetic disorders and undesireable temperment charicteristics can appear in line-bred puppy's even though there is not a history of the disorder in their pedigree.
In fact, most often our females are only bred once a year, skipping a cycle to ensure the health & well being of the parent. Because we don't over-breed our parents, quite often all of our new babies have found new homes while we still have many new homes like yours, needing a puppy.
